Hey There, I'm Lauren.
I'm a designer and an educator.
It's so nice to meet you. I'm passionate about designing learning experiences that are inclusive and memorable. I love asking the tough questions and considering a range of perspectives in my approach. I value trying new things, working collaboratively, and getting my hands dirty. Take a look around at some of my recent projects and just holler if you need me!
What I do
Let's build something awesome together.
Design + Innovation
I’m big into experimentation, and leveraging design thinking in my practice. I don’t want to just solve a problem, but solve the right problem, and ensure stakeholders have the data they need to make informed decisions. My north star is ensuring the designs I develop center the learner. I’ve taken particular interest in designing engagements, with an eye to inclusive pedagogy.
Technology
As a former web developer, and coding instructor, I know how to design for new and experienced technologists alike. I believe it’s possible for anyone to learn and apply a technical skill. In a technology driven world, it’s vital to design experiences that are accessible and approachable. I currently work with Emeritus, an online education provider that teaches on on-demand skills to adult learners, where I put my design and innovation expertise into practice.
Games Based Learning
I believe that games are a powerful and under-utilized tool in educational design. I’ve developed a number of digital and tabletop games, centered around storytelling and world-building. I’ve also leveraged the use of gamification as a tool to motivate and engage learners. You can see some of these designs in my portfolio, above.
Learner Experience
I have 8+ years of experience designing learner experiences and managing large operational units in the ed-tech sector. I’ve worked at organizations at all stages in the startup lifecycle, with particular expertise in designing for online learning, supporting adult learners, building to scale, process optimization, and training and developing new managers.
