LivingAuthentically Online

The projects I took on in my “Creativity by Design” class were the most personal designs I created during my time in the LDT program

Both of my assignments revolved around the theme of “Living Authentically Online.” I personally find it challenging to live an authentic online life due to the pressure to perform, fear of internet trolls, and the like. Through these projects, I challenged myself to imagine “What would living authentically online look like?” In my first project, I developed a self-help podcast episode that focused on “How to Have Difficult Conversations.” The episode challenged listeners to push through their anxieties to make way for meaningful conversations with friends, colleagues, and relatives. Creating this product was also very therapeutic for me, as I acknowledged this is an area I have expertise to share. My capstone assignment took authenticity one step further, as I pushed myself to be my most authentic self in multiple formats:
  • Via my personal blog
  • Via social media (Twitter)
  • Via Streaming (Twitch)
  • Through this project, I learned what places help me live an authentic life online and what boundaries feel healthy. I’m currently building a gaming PC so I can continue streaming on Twitch, which was an incredibly positive and energizing experience.
